When I started setting up my business earlier this year, I really wanted to do a fun photoshoot that would show off my personality, interests and style. I roped in my 13 year-old sister, Beth (who at a size 6-8 is nothing like me, body wise!) so that the shoot showed some interaction, and who better to interact with than one of my favourite people, my little sis!
I got to work with the amazing Emma from Emma B Photography. I am very fortunate to have known Emma for many, many years and just as lucky that he is also my Numero Uno supplier on the forthcoming Perfect Choice Planning website, having contributed the majority of the wonderful images. Not only is she a very talented photographer, having her work featured on blogs like Whimsical Wonderland Weddings blog, but she is a lovely, smart and caring friend as well.
I came to her with an idea and from that idea came this beautiful shoot. Like I said, Emma is such a talented photographer and I'm so glad I could work with her (with a future project in the works!) We spent one Saturday morning over tea (complete with chinese teapot set and tea strainer) and cake (M&S mini cupcakes) brainstorming ideas and props - I love props! It went from vintage to 70's before finally settling on retro day out. The main prop was our 1979 MG Midget and, because it was end of the 70's, it wouldn't have been right to say 70's. Especially as two of the picnic props were dated in the 80's!
I have been tweeting sneak peeks from this shoot nearly every day since I picked up the photos (Which can be seen on my facebook page), and each time I posted on, I got more excited; I just wanted to how them all at once!
Because of this, and the fact I am off camping this afternoon, I have decided to release some excitement and share the first part of the shoot with you in whole.
It was scheduled for the first Monday in August but the weather on the day was miserable! SO we rescheduled for the next Monday and I was DETERMINED that we would stick with it! The next Monday came and it was raining all morning but being the optimistic person that I am, I had that little bit of hope that kept me going. Sure enough, the weather brightened up and, even though it was blowing an absolute gale, we went for it. I'm so glad we did because, as you will see, there are some amazing shots (then the comedy few where I have a mane of hair for my face lol!)
"It's Summer 1980. The fashions of the 70's are still strong and it's a great day to use the car. The sun is shining, the breeze is light. The scene is set for a wonderful retro day out..."
Cheeky shot of Matt! |
Oh my. Just looking at these images brings back the fun memories from the day, battling against the wind and pretending it was glorious weather when it, well, wasn't!
{Part 2} will be coming next week when I am back from my exciting camping trip to Wasdale in the Lake District. I will be incommunicado for 5 days thanks to the rolling surroundings of Scafell Pike but I will be back with more sneak peeks and another blog entry next week.
This is Wast Water, and we're staying at the far end |

A big thanks to my sister, Beth for giving the shoot an extra dimension that wouldn't have been there withouit you.
And of course, thanks to Emma for her wonderful creativity and willingness to dig her wellies out and get battered by the wind to help me out!
{Part 2} will be coming next Thursday so keep you eyes peeled!
