My First Blog Entry - How Exciting!

Oh. Em. Gee!

I can’t believe I am finally writing my first blog entry for Perfect Choice Planning! I think I had best introduce myself and say a big hello to everyone out there reading this blog.

So, HELLO!  My name is Laura and I am a serial organiser. I like a lot of things from relaxing with my friends, taking pictures, having fun and living life to the fullest! One thing you will see straight away from my ramblings is that I am also a serial talker – I love meeting new people, learning new things and experiencing as much as I can in the time that I have.

One cold evening in November I had what you would call a light bulb moment, of which I have had a couple more since. For many years, since leaving college and entering the world of employment, I have wondered what I could do to earn money that I would enjoy, and be good at. My problem is there is too much choice – I love doing lots of things including photography and cooking, even thinking about nutrition and well-being when I became a Weight Watcher 2 years ago, however, I never felt I would be good enough or worried that I wouldn’t be successful or fail (call it a low self-esteem from a crazy childhood).

Thankfully I have the most amazing man, Matt, who’s entrepreneurial spirit, love and whole-hearted belief in me spurred Miss Soothill here on to do something that I actually wanted to do and made me believe in myself, something that no-one has done or tried to do before. It’s because of him, his belief and his unstoppable creativity that has got me to this point where I am excited and have a million ideas that I can’t wait to share with the world.

My light-bulb moment last November has now become Perfect Choice Planning. If you ask any of my friends to describe me I could guarantee they would say I’m out going, fun, focused and, of course, mega organised. I like to be busy, I enjoy planning events and work best under pressure when I have a million and one things buzzing round my head.

Growing up for the first 11 years as an only child, I always wanted to be around friends and others my age, so my planning and organising really started at an early age – arranging meetings and logistics just to see and spend time with friends! Since then I have organised, facilitated and attended many corporate events through my professional career, as well as holidays, trips and outings for myself and friends, the more significant ones being my 21st birthday party and a trip to London for 8 people as part of my birthday celebrations. And this is only the beginning….

I really hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as I know I will enjoy writing it. I enjoy meeting new people so please get in touch, follow my blog, tell others and share the love and happiness that, I hope, emanates from my musings! There are so many things planned for the next few months and I can’t wait to tell you all about them, where my full time job (for now) and general life allow. As you can probably tell now, I could talk the ear off anyone who will listen, and love sharing my thought’s, inspiration, experiences and life with other people so I urge you to watch this space, and for now I will leave you with 10 facts about this crazy woman who is having a tête-à-tête with t’internet :o)

  1. I am a huge fan of Bon Jovi and saw them live this June for the first time ever; it was emotional!
  2. I have been a ballroom dancer since I was 4; that’s 20 years and counting.
  3. I am a massive foodie (which is how I became a massive fatty, hence becoming a Weight Watcher!) I love great food and drink in a great place with great people – this is a recurring theme in my life! My 13 year old sister doesn’t have the same appetite and it shows in her gorgeous, slender size 8 figure - *indistinctive mumbles*
  4. Whenever we get the chance, my Mr Perfect and I escape to the Lake District to camp and embark on ever-increasingly difficult walks – our greatest achievements so far include Cat Bells & High Spy, Coniston Old Man and Haystacks. This is also fun with friends. Even when you get rained off – which has happened (we got VERY wet!)
  5. My man and I love history as well as the great outdoors - I have been a National Trust member for nearly 10 years.
  6. I once believed I would be a vet. I could handle the blood and bodily fluids, it was the thought of losing an animal I couldn’t handle; I’m a sensitive soul!
  7. I love motorsport and it’s all my man’s fault. Because of him, I have met Davina McCall, Jodie Kidd, Sir Stirling Moss, Simon Cowell, James Martin, Ken Block, the yummy Bruno Senna and others besides. *Thanks* a lot! :o) I dream of being the first British female Formula 1 racing driver and mingling with the best. There aren’t enough out there and there should be!
  8. I want to travel the world, see the sights, experience the cultures and taste the food (the recurring theme is already coming into effect). In fact, had I won £166 million on the Euromillions a few weeks back, it would have been the first thing I would have done! And I would have taken all the people close to me who make me smile and feel happy. And maybe my fella!
  9. This summer, at the *tender* age of 24, I was asked for ID whilst buying a disposable BBQ, for which you have to be 18 or over to purchase. At least the person who asked was older than me, and my youthful looks will stand me in good stead for when I’m old enough to be appreciative of being asked for ID!
  10. I am a big fan of films and love many genres. The only one I can’t stand is Horror, more specifically zombie movies – and Matt takes great pleasure in watching me watch them! Simple things…
